Here in France, we have a lot of difficulties to find pure copper, so we work with copper add to an alloy as nickel. That's what you can find in electric wire.
May be they delivered you this type of copper.

I'll be interested to see what will happen tomorrow...

xoxoNarrative jewelryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16888050360329126660noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5091779487160216046.post-43069156835038253632009-08-27T22:09:27.576-04:002009-08-27T22:09:27.576-04:00Hm, still haven't figured this one out. I'll have to write myself a note on this wire so I know not to use it when I want to oxidize a piece. And both pieces did turn out really dark probably because I kept waiting for the wire in the center to turn. I'll post pictures tomorrow of the finished piece. Thanks once again for your help girls!Leslie @ Bei Mondihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02183853430790458834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5091779487160216046.post-52002250531213567462009-08-27T18:46:53.010-04:002009-08-27T18:46:53.010-04:00I know the piece didn't turn out how you expec...I know the piece didn't turn out how you expected, but I really LOVE the contrast between the two metals.Vintajia Adornmentshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08793014765086434877noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5091779487160216046.post-24399434232271879162009-08-27T14:56:20.344-04:002009-08-27T14:56:20.344-04:00Pure copper will oxidize, craft store copper will ...Pure copper will oxidize, craft store copper will not, there are other alloys that prevent that from happening.sharonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17429728755732852655noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5091779487160216046.post-18330698340265875472009-08-27T14:50:51.460-04:002009-08-27T14:50:51.460-04:00Sounds to me like some anti-tarnish wire thing. Copper wire for electrical purposes often does. It is also next to impossible to remove the coating. Don't know why the rest turned so absolutely black, maybe you had it in too long? Try taking some steel wool and give the blackened parts some polishing to get some of the oxidation off.stregatahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14573668708723922929noreply@blogger.com
