I got a little creative with some of those backgrounds. :) Art beads are, of course, the most impressive and the most fun to work with. I hope you had a chance to visit the Beads-of-Clay Open Studio on Sunday. There were some major buys and lots of prizes. I'll be showing off what I purchased soon. But until then, here's a few items I made with Gaea's ceramic beads.
I can't say enough good things about her beads. The glazes are amazingly rich! And so many different creatures and whimsical items to choose from.
I also made some "magical" earrings. Oh yes, magical. They grant wishes. Well, I wish they did. These are made from the canteloupe Swarovski crystals that change colors depending on what type of lighting they are in.
OUTSIDE
INCANDESCENT LIGHT
FLUORESCENT LIGHT
I've got my earrings ready for the exchange but I'm waiting on the "extras". Every gift needs some extras, right? "Mr. Postman, where are you? My friend needs her stuff."
I'll leave you with the music of Regina Spektor. Her voice and piano playing captures my heart and won't let go!
Why choose? I like to make all sorts of things. Last night I nearly completed a challenge that has plagued me for so long... a man's necklace with an egg shaped stone as the focal. I had to remind myself not to pretty it up too much! LOL!
ReplyDeleteHe tried it on today and it needs a few tweaks, but I got the rock right! Now I know that I can do it if I have to again. Those color change swarovskis are amazing! Never heard of such a thing! And I am so bummed that I missed the BOC blog a thon... next time.
Enjoy the day!
Erin
Wow! Love all these pieces. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteThat's been my problem also but, like Erin says, why choose? There is plenty of room to stretch our creativity and we don't have to relegate our personal style by repeating the same themes! Explore every nook and cranny that you please, and your pieces reflect the creative adventurer that you are! They are all beautiful!
ReplyDeleteNice! I love them all, but I really love the red swarovski with the cones!
ReplyDeleteHey Leslie, I am sort of in the same boat. I don't know which way go with my jewelry designs. I am a wireworker at heart and I don't want to abandon the wire but finds way to incorporate other techniques such as etching, stamping, mixed-media etc. I don't know where to start and I too feel like I have yet to find my design nitch. I too need to just let it go and create what I am in mood to create with tools in hand and beads in storage.
ReplyDeleteGreat work Leslie, all these new creations are "superbes", especially the necklaces (for me). And the crystal's earrings seem to be really magical...

I love all the pieces. Those earrings are magic, where on earth did you find those stones? I would love to get some. Thanks for becoming a fan of Skye Jewels btw. I will be adding your blg to my blog roll ;)
ReplyDeleteLeslie, I like all of your pieces. Like Erin says, why choose? Especially if you can successfully work across styles, which you are. I think your niche just kind of evolves over time. Your work is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, beautiful...why choose..let your hands lead the way!
ReplyDeleteLeslie, looks like you have been a busy bee...everything looks so nice...I especially like the necklace with the key and the first pair of earrings...sorry I missed the BOC open studio:(

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful blog post today! I love seeing all of your new creations. First, I agree..why chose?! There's no need to chose...just follow your heart. I now for myself, I'm all over the map but I can't help it. The pictures of the Swarovski beads in the different lighting was a great way to show them off...you are getting so clever with your photography! I also liked the creative backdrops you used in the first photos.
I'm the same way. I really like different styles of jewelry and can't settle on one.
